I hope everyone is doing well. Wow, July
has been an extremely busy month for me and everything seemed to
come to a head last week. Massive web site changes, new
manufacturer regulations, our HOA Annual Meeting; I know there was more
I just
can not think of it right now. I still have some major decisions
to make regarding my web site and the future of a product line.
I am also, hoping some of you would give me some insight on what
you think of the www.yourwellnessoptions.com
web site. I am looking for comments regarding the products the
site has for sale. Do you feel they lessen the quality of the
site, etc? I am asking because I am thinking about either
replacing the current ones with a different line or just removing all
health care products entirely.
One of the things I am struggling with is the fact that those products
are partly how I make money, but, they also hold me back. Having
Goji Juice on the web site really prevents me from being able to tell
the whole truth about the goji berry, the same goes with calcium,
Vitamin C, etc. When I begin working on the "health conditions"
section, I would like to be able to include all information
available. I don't want to begin the section and be forced to
fill it with fluff so I don't end up on the FDA's chopping
block. I'm
not really big on fluff anyway, so,
please let me know what you think.
For
my local subscribers, another item under serious consideration
right now is
a West Valley meditation group. I currently go to a group in
North Central
Phoenix. Ada Porat, a local vibrational healer, leads the
meditation group. We would like to begin another group in the
West
Valley this Fall. If you would be interested in attending please
let me know. It really is a nice way to relax and
reconnect.

Filtered Water and Cardiovascular Issues
by LeeAnn Rahn
On the news the
other night, one of the local Phoenix television stations aired a story
warning of the possible harm that could come from drinking filtered
water. The basis of the story, according to the newscasters, was
a study done by the WHO. Apparently cardiovascular issues show up
less often in areas where magnesium is more abundant in the water
supply. Unfortunately, the story did not give enough
information to do more than scare people.
The news story is
not without merit though. Cardiovascular
problems are definitely possible if your body's mineral levels
are not properly balanced.
So, what is the real
story on filtered water. In this day and
age, filtering your water (where I live at least) really is a necessity
- an unfortunate
necessity. The removal of chlorine, heavy metals, other toxic
chemicals, and even asbestos, which is now showing up in some water
supplies, is absolutely necessary for the sake of your health.
The unfortunate
result of removing the bad stuff is that the good stuff
is also removed. Wow, such a scientific statement - bad stuff -
good stuff. Are you going to die of a heart attack just because
you drink filtered water. Probably not, but unless you restore
your body's mineral stores with a proper diet, you are well on your
way to dis-ease.
When you drink
filtered water, whether by reverse osmosis,
distillation,
etc., you are essentially diluting the mineral balance in your blood
supply. That mineral balance is necessary for proper blood
pH. If you have read the past article series on pH
you then know
the pH of the blood must remain very close to homeostasis. To
maintain the proper blood pH, your body will rob the cells, bones,
muscles, or
any other part of the body of minerals to bring the blood back to
homeostasis. So when you hear about distilled water leaching
minerals from your body that is essentially what is happening.
If you drink your
water sip by sip throughout the day, filtered or not,
you probably
will not run into troubles. Healthy adult kidneys can process around 15
liters of water a day. It is when you decide to guzzle large
amounts of water, that you run into real trouble. Let's say you
have been outside working in the heat or exercising and you are
parched. You grab a huge glass of water and drink it down as fast as
you can. You have to admit we've all done this at some point in
our lives. You body, which is already working hard to replenish
the blood's mineral reserves, lost due to sweat, is now flooded with
water. Your body now has a crisis situation. The mineral
stores in your blood, which maintain the proper pH, are seriously
diluted. The process of
replenishing the mineral stores in the blood force the body to remove
minerals from the cells. Your body's cells now also have a crisis
to deal with. Your body must balance the fluid and the
remaining mineral stores within and around the cells.
Water Intoxication,
which can happen in this type of situation, is very
real and has some very serious effects - irregular heartbeat,
fluttering eyelids, swelling of tissues, and fluid in the lungs.
When the swelling tissues affect the brain or nervous system you may
see more serious effects such as seizures, coma, or death. Water
Intoxication is fairly rare though. I just wanted you to know a
little bit about how water can affect your body and understand the rate
at which you drink your water has a large impact on your body.
So, back to our
everyday filtered water.... ...what's really sad
is we are having to remove the ionic minerals from the water.
Your body assimilates these minerals better than any other form you can
give it. Also, since a good percentage of what we eat on a daily
basis is acidic in nature it would be in the best interests of our
health to give our body alkalizing water. There are some bottled
water brands that are better than others. I've read that Trinity,
Aqua Pacific, Fiji, and even Evian all have pH balances on the alkaline
side. Another option is to purchase a product that can add back
in the ionic
minerals
(plus over 70 trace minerals/electrolytes) - this is the option I use
daily. You can also add lemon or lime to your water. Take 2
large lemons and cut them up into 4 wedges each. As you drink
your water during the day, squeeze a wedge of lemon into each glass of
water. When your two lemons are gone, you know you have consumed
8 glasses of water that day.
Have
a Cracker With Chiropractors
by Eric Cho
Chiropractic
healing is a kind of healing that taps the body’s ‘inner intelligence’
– that innate sense of balance the body has when a person is
physically, emotionally and mentally healthy. A healing art that was
developed in the United States , chiropractic healing operates on the
belief that the body can heal itself if there is an uninterrupted flow
of energy or nerve impulses from the brain to the rest of the body.
It’s interesting to note that chiropractic healing came to the fore
when David Palmer was able to cure deafness by manipulating a
misaligned vertebra. This miraculous healing led more and more
researches into the field of chiropractic healing. Modern chiropractors
trace the beginnings of this art of healing to Hippocrates, who said,
“Get knowledge of the spine, this is the requisite for many diseases”.
Chiropractors
work primarily with the joints that lie along the spinal column. They
believe that when the vertebrae and adjoining bones are misaligned in
relation to the joints, the flow of impulses from the nerve is impeded
or blocked. This in turn drains the body of its ability to stay
healthy. What chiropractic healing does is quite evident from the name
itself; ‘cheir’ means “hand” and ‘practikos’ means “done by” - healing
manipulations that seek to correctly align the bones of the vertebra to
restore total health. Chiropractic philosophy grew out of a ‘wholism’
which considers the body to be a single unified organ.
During
therapy, a patient may hear his joints crack however the sessions are
pain-free and quite refreshing too. This ‘crack’ is actually a
vacuum-created nitrogen bubble that is bursting within the joint. The
actual manipulations are often very gentle, and make use of a technique
called ‘non-force’. Depending upon the nature of the problem and its
longevity, multiple sessions may be needed. These techniques have been
found to be very effective not only in restoring strength to the spine
and vertebra, but also in restoring good health so that there is
vigorous flow of energy throughout the body.
Chiropractic
healing is an effective treatment for muscle, joint and bone problems.
It is very effective when used to treat conditions such as headaches
and carpal tunnel syndrome. It is the single most effective treatment
for lower back pain. In fact, it has been so effective that it is the
third largest health care profession after medicine and dentistry. Of
the 36+ million Americans visiting chiropractors every year, 70% are
treated for back pain, 20% for head and neck disorders and the rest are
treated for other disorders. Chiropractic healing even soothes colicky
babies, thereby giving harassed mothers a well-deserved break.
Chiropractic
healing may also help people who are partially paralyzed. Therapy is
not contained to the paralyzed parts of the body. Many confined
individuals suffer from excessive shoulder and arm related injuries
that come from the stress of using a wheelchair. Strengthening
exercises help to prevent future injuries and harden the areas that are
prone to over-use.
While
one branch of Chiropractic healing keeps itself strictly within the
parameters of hand-manipulation, another branch called Osteopathy
actively uses heat, massage, nutrition and other therapies to achieve
the same results. Chiropractic healing coaxes the body to heal itself,
thus it is a great adjunct to traditional medicine.

Motivational
Speaker Says: To Boost Your Attitude Change Your Personal Routine
by Dr. Gary S. Goodman
Why
do people travel, taking vacations in faraway and unusual places?
Why
is it that the best thing in the world for someone’s career may be
moving from one place in the country, or in the world for that matter,
to another?
Why
do companies, that aren’t changing their products
or services at all, seem so bent on continuously reorganizing their
staffs, assigning new titles, shifting people’s offices and chains of
command?
In
every case, there is a common thread: People become
motivated when they either voluntarily alter or are simply compelled to
change their personal routines.
Some
folks know this,
intuitively, especially young adults who are known to change college
majors, apartments, roommates, and just about everything else, without
advance notice.
You
can take advantage of this by changing even
minor habits, like waking up especially early one morning, either to
accomplish something special, or to contemplate your navel over a cup
of coffee.
You’ll
probably find that your digestion is affected,
which is to say you’ll be hungry at different times and this will make
you adjust your diet, and that’s just the beginning.
After
some initial drowsiness, you may find that you rev into high gear,
getting more done in less time than ever before.
And
all of these things can come from changing just one element in your
routine, over the course of one day.
Don't
settle for the all too predictable. Introduce just a little variety
into your routine, today, and see if it gives you a lift!
